Emotional Landscapes: 
Lesleys current landscape series captures a deep emotional response to time, erosion, 
seasons and prose. Her strong use of colour, surface texture and markings can often evoke the 
dramatic seascapes and sunsets of expressionist paintings.

Each piece tells its own unique story and often takes the viewer on a nostalgic dreamlike 
journey where ones senses and dreams cohere.”
Process:
This vessel has been thrown on the wheel and hand carved. Its surface has been built up layer 
by layer over several days with porcelain slip, hand coloured slips, ceramic pigments, stains 
and glazes. The interior is finished off with a high gloss black glaze and fired to stoneware 
temperature. This item is not a cup and not intended for food or drink. It is a sculptural vessel 
but can hold water for flowers.
